I believe that the so called “spectacle” varies on the person, nor is it just one specific thing. In our generation majority of the things we view regarding fashion other then through our daily lives is through a screen. We as consumers want the things that celebrities and bloggers are constantly wearing and talking about. Social media as a whole has a huge impact on what we want to look like. I feel that because we look at “whats trending” so much on social media we as humans loose a sense of being different or loss in creativity. An example of social media impacting this “spectacle” would be the instagram videos of woman painting their faces with extreme amounts of make up in order to contour their face. When woman do this they are trying to hide their flaws by making themselves look completely different. This creates an idea of is hiding your face with makeup pretty? Is this trend the new “norm” for makeup?
