First Fashion Moment Video

I really enjoyed watching the videos of the first fashion moments and thought it was fascinating to see how people got to where they are today in fashion. I liked that everyone put a lot of thought into their response. I watched Stephanie C., Stephanie S., Taylor and Alex’s videos and noticed that all of our experiences were pretty similar. We all have always loved clothes and dressing up from a young age, and really realized fashion mattered in elementary and middle school. What I thought was really interesting was how Stephanie mentioned that though in middle school she wanted to wear all Abercrombie and Hollister like her friends, today she likes to have her own personal style. I think a lot of us would agree with that because today we want to stay on trend, but not be clones of our friends like we probably were when we were 11 or 12.

  1. I agree with your statement that we want to stay on trend but we do not want to be exactly like our friends now and days. It is really interesting to see how in middle school we are so influenced by our peers and we have to all wear the same brand because it is the “cool” thing to do. But now as we have gotten older brand names are not really the priority its more about what is on trend. I wonder why though our minds change as we mature. If we think about it, in the professional work field we all wear pretty much the same attire, but now in our young adult lives we do whatever we want.

  2. Does our desire for individuality and personal identity in fashion come from a change in the fashion world, or changes in our personal lives (ie age)?
