Mobile Phones: Here and Now

Mobile phones are the “here and now” of fashion. Not only are they becoming a new way to accessorize and match your phone case to your outfit, but they are now becoming an outlet to show your followers what you are wearing as well. Not only are people seeing what other people are wearing in person, but they now have their Facebooks, Twitters, Instagrams, and Snapchats to show people what other people are wearing. Did you just purchase a new pair of shoes that you want everyone to see? Well chances are they have already seen it on their phone somewhere through advertisements, but no worries, you now can post a cool picture of you wearing your shoes to one of your many social media accounts. This way you can show everyone your new shoes without even seeing them in person or even needing to get your shoes dirty!maxresdefault

Hashtags such as #OOTD (outfit of the day) or fashion shows that stream live on mobile phones have made many worlds of fashion so instant and accessible that fast fashion has taken over. The climax of fast fashion is in result to internet and mobile phones, which can also be considered a generational shift. Everywhere you look people are on their mobile phones and consciously or subconsciously this piece of technology is having huge impacts on the “here and now” of fashion.

  1. How does this attention to social media affect how we dress? If we are planning on posting an OOTD, or are in the habit of posting one, does that affect what people wear? How they wear it? How does that affect trends?
