An article suggesting that the one-for-one model for Toms shoes has been flawed since the beginning. When purchasing Toms shoes another pair is provided for someone living in poverty. It is suggested that this gives consumers the idea that they are helping others when they are actually shopping for themselves and not doing anything for the cause. Now that Tom’s is up for sale media reports have been suggesting that the one-for-one deal was nothing more than a marketing hook.
